The President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation Oleksandr Svishchov expressed his impressions of the second stage of the WP Tour Series, in which Dynamo Lviv, the current champions of Ukraine, took part.

“Two defeats from the leaders and victories over the outsiders were the key points of the analysis of the second round of the WP Tour Series from the players and coach of the Dynamo Lviv water polo club, as well as from the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation. “I am very pleased that our Ukrainian water polo players from the Dynamo Lviv water polo club have been playing in the WP Tour Series for the second year in a row. These international matches give our players the opportunity to gain a lot of experience. This is especially true for the young water polo players, of whom there are a lot in the Dynamo water polo club. The guys are gaining practice, and the coaches have the opportunity to experiment with the line-up and new tactical schemes. As for the second round, the result is positive, Dynamo won three times. I was somewhat disappointed with the defeat of Novak, this team is a strong one for Ukrainian water polo players. We lost, but I think that two defeats in the second round provide a good basis for our coaches and players to analyse their weaknesses and work on them,” shared his impressions the President of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.

Oleksiy Shvedov, head coach of the Dynamo Lviv water polo club, added: “The second round turned out to be difficult, primarily because we didn’t manage to get our defender Roman Hryshchuk out. We had to combine in defence, but we succeeded in some cases and failed in others. It’s good that we can get practice with strong opponents like Novaki and Zhaibas, it’s the experience of playing with a strong opponent that we lack at home.”

Team captain Oleksandr Dyadyura added: “In my opinion, we played the second round of the WP Tour Series weaker than the first. Only in the last match against the tournament leader Zhaibas did we have a better score than last time. We failed in the first periods in matches with the leaders, and then we start to catch up. Why, unlike in the first round, were you unable to beat Novaki? We failed in the first half of the match, especially the first period. Last time we managed to pull ourselves together and win. In this match, we couldn’t do the same.”
