
The fifth, final round of the Ukrainian water polo championship among men’s teams of the Super League ended in Lviv. The “Dynamo” team from Lviv became the champion of Ukraine in men’s water polo in the 2023–2024 season.
Water polo club “Dynamo Lviv” won the title, defeating the team “NTU KhPI-ShVSM” from the city of Kharkiv in the final playoff match with a score of 12:9.
The team “NTU KhPI-ShVSM” (Kharkiv) became the silver medalist. Bronze medals were won by the team “ShVSM Water polo club Mariupol” (Mariupol).


This is the 14th championship title of “Water polo club Dynamo Lviv” in the history of Ukrainian water polo.

The President of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine Oleksandr Svishchov thanked all the participants and teams of the championship: “I want to thank all the teams for this championship, first of all those who are close to the front line. Kharkiv and Mariupol, which are difficult to train and do not have bases. Kyiv, many guys from this team are defending the country. Thank you for your participation and struggle. Of course, I congratulate Water polo club Dynamo Lviv on the championship. Well done guys, they showed a bright game.”
The championship was held in two stages: regular season and playoffs. In the regular season, the teams played two matches each. The four best teams advanced to the playoffs, where they played for the title of champion under the Olympic system.
Oleksiy Shvedov, the head coach of Water polo club “Dynamo Lviv” shared his emotions and impressions from the championship: “We have done a lot of work and we have passed a certain stage, we have learned a lot. Thanks to the fans, officials and guys. Thanks for all the matches and victories. And also — boundless gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine that we could compete.”
Players of different clubs were awarded with personal awards. Thus, the best player was Kostyantyn Alekseev, Water polo club “Dynamo” Lviv, the best goalkeeper was Nestor Babsky, “LFKS-Akvatiko” (Lviv), Oleksandr Abramov, NTU “KhPI-ShVSM” (Kharkiv) was awarded as the best defender, the best attacker was Yarema Artsyshevsky, Water polo club “Dynamo” Lviv”, Danylo Sokolov, Water polo club “Dynamo” Lviv” won the title of the best scorer, and the best player under 18 years was Oleksandr Rychun, “LFKS-Aquatico” (Lviv).

“Congratulations to everyone who won today, and I sincerely congratulate Dynamo (Lviv) on the championship title! It is a real pride that the champion is from the Lviv region! I wish “Dynamo” new victories and success in the future! I also want to note that water polo is a wonderful sport that deserves more attention and popularization in Ukraine. I hope that thanks to such successes as Dynamo’s victory, water polo will become even more popular among Ukrainians, Oleksandr Svishchov said.

For his contribution to the development of the sports life of the country, the “Obozrevatel” publication included Oleksandr Svishchov in the top 10 businessmen of Western Ukraine who are actively developing sports.
Oleksandr Svishchov has been actively engaged in the development of Ukrainian sports for more than 10 years. He made a lot of efforts so that our domestic water polo community under martial law had proper conditions for training and reached a new level. Thanks to the work and boundless dedication of the president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, Ukrainian water polo today continues to develop unceasingly, and Ukrainian athletes continue to give Ukraine new victories.
