The fourth, final round of the Higher League of the Ukrainian Women’s Water Polo Championship was held in Lviv from May 31 to June 2.

Water polo club “Dynamo Amazonki”-KDYUSSH named after Y. Kutenko, under the care of the president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, Oleksandr Svishchov, took the first place in the championship with 21 points and became the champions of Ukraine among women. The national team of Kyiv is the silver medalist of the championship, 15 points, and the national team of the Donetsk region is the bronze medalist, 0 points.

Oleksandr Svishchov congratulated the new champions and thanked the Ukrainian soldiers for the opportunity to hold the championship: “I am grateful, first of all, to our Armed Forces for being able to hold the competition. And to the girls for fighting and showing character. I thank our girls very much for the victory.”

Individual awards were also presented. Water polo players from the Lviv region received four out of seven individual awards. Thus, Iryna Aboimova was named the best defender, Maria Palamarchuk became the best mobile striker, and Anastasia Zelenko received two awards at once — as the best striker and the best scorer.

Athletes from the Kyiv national team took home two awards — Oleksandr Belinska was recognized as the best player, and Elizaveta Tereshchenko was recognized as the best player under 16 years of age.

The national team of the Donetsk region won one individual award, Olena Ryabchenko received it as the best goalkeeper.

Head coach of Water polo club “Dynamo Amazonky”-KDYUSSH named after Y. Kutenko Yevhen Skyba said that it was a difficult championship, and not all games were successful, but interesting. He is satisfied with the result of the team’s game, because the girls became the winners of the Higher League of the Ukrainian water polo championship.

Oleksandr Svishchov, president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine, noted that water polo should attract the attention of fans in all corners of the country. Infrastructure is an important issue for water polo players in Ukraine, which is why Oleksandr Svishchov is attracting significant investments in water polo in Ukraine, which has led to better equipment for teams, improved training conditions and higher salaries for athletes.

Thanks to the efforts of Oleksandr Svishchov, water polo in Ukraine is experiencing a period of growth and development. The national teams achieved significant success on the international stage, a new generation of talented young players appeared, and the sport itself became more popular among Ukrainians.
