Oleksandr Svishchov: “Our teams must demonstrate character and fight for Ukraine”

The President of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine and famous businessman Oleksandr Svishchov shared his impressions of the draw for the 2026 European Championship and noted the need to show character in every match.

Oleksandr Svishchov noted: “Our men’s team got into a difficult group, where the leader is France, which demonstrates stable progress in water polo. However, our players have every chance to show their skills and prove that they are worthy of going to the European Championship. We must fight for every ball, for every moment in the game, to achieve our goal.”

As for the women’s team, the president of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine admitted that the qualification will not be easy, because only the first place in the group gives the right to participate in the European Championship. At the same time, Oleksandr Svishchov emphasized that this tournament will be an important stage in the development of the team and the acquisition of international experience by young players.

Investments in sports and support for young athletes

In addition to heading the Federation, Oleksandr Svishchov is an active investor in the development of Ukrainian sports. In 2022, he opened a modern sports and entertainment center Leoland, which became a training base for young athletes.

“I am convinced that sport is an important element of national identity and development of the country. We will continue to invest in youth, sports infrastructure and water polo, because this is an investment in the future of Ukraine,” emphasized Oleksandr Svishchov.

Volunteer activities and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

An important part of Oleksandr Svishchov’s activities is his volunteer work and support for the Ukrainian military. In early 2024, he received gratitude from the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny for his active assistance to Ukrainian defenders.

His contribution to the development of sports and charity has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 2024 National Treasure Award.
