The meeting of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation brought together representatives from all regions, which indicates the consolidated position of the water polo community. All delegates, without exception, supported the candidacy of Oleksandr Svishchov, attesting to the recognition of his contribution to the development of the sport, despite the extraordinary challenges caused by the full-scale war.

Oleksandr Svishchov, in his speech after his election, expressed sincere gratitude for the trust.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by all members of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation. In the next term, I and all members of the presidium will work fruitfully for the development of Ukrainian water polo,” he noted.

Svishchov Oleksandr also emphasized the significant difficulties encountered during his first term, especially after the start of a full-scale war.

“The full-scale war made serious adjustments to the development of water polo and our lives in general. We worked to preserve all teams. Many children were evacuated to safe regions of the country and abroad, adult teams were also relocated, in particular, the Mariupol Water Polo Club,” said the president of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation.

Oleksandr Svishchov also emphasized efforts aimed at ensuring proper conditions for high-quality team training and the opportunity for all national teams to participate in training camps and international competitions.

Emphasis on youth and the promotion of sports

Changing the focus from “preservation” to “development,” Oleksandr Svishchov outlined new priorities.

“If in previous years we worked to preserve water polo in Ukraine, now we must actively popularize and develop children’s and youth schools, because children are the foundation of our future,” he emphasized.

This strategic direction emphasizes a long-term vision for the future of water polo in Ukraine, based on training a new generation of athletes.

New composition of the Presidium and tasks for 2025

In addition to the re-election of the president, a new composition of the Presidium of the Water Polo Federation of Ukraine was also elected. It includes: Oleksandr Svishchov, Mykola Smirnov, Oleksandr Yevtushok, Vyacheslav Belevtsov, Valery Botnar and Viktor Pushaver. This team of experienced specialists will work together to implement the tasks set.

Oleksandr Svishchov also announced the main tasks for 2025, including:

• Successful performance of the men’s and women’s national teams in the qualification for the 2026 European Championship.
• Defending a place for the U-18 junior team in Group A.

The main thing is to maintain the team spirit and prepare for the qualifying matches,” emphasized the president of the Ukrainian Football Federation, Oleksandr Svishchov, expressing confidence in the potential of Ukrainian players on the international stage.
