During the celebrations marking the 134thanniversary of the Shevchenko Scientific Society Library in Lviv, academics and the management of the Vasyl Stefanyk Lviv National Scientific Library of Ukraine paid special tribute to the contribution of the Oleksandr Svischov family to the development of Ukrainian science and book publishing.
It was thanks to the financial support of patrons that two seminal academic works were published: *Hidden Names: A Dictionary of Pseudonyms of Ukrainian Authors of the 19th–21st Centuries’ and ‘The Press of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the Reception of European Journalism (1873–1939): Selected Works’.

The dictionary *Hidden Names* has become one of the most comprehensive studies in Ukraine devoted to the pseudonyms of Ukrainian writers, journalists and public figures. The publication contains information on over 24,000 pseudonyms and is an important resource for historians, literary scholars and researchers of Ukrainian culture.
Equally significant is the work devoted to the press of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. The publication demonstrates the place occupied by Ukrainian scholars and journalists in the pan-European intellectual sphere, and also reveals the society’s role in the development of national science in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The library staff expressed their sincere gratitude to Oleksandr Svishchov’s family for their support of these projects. The academic community notes that without the involvement of benefactors, the implementation of many publishing initiatives would have been considerably more difficult.
Supporting science and culture remains one of the key areas of Oleksandr Svischov’s public engagement. Alongside the development of sport, he consistently supports projects that help to preserve Ukraine’s historical memory, promote its national heritage and advance scientific research.
